I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After graduating from the University of Washington with a Master's in Tax Accounting, I received a California CPA and began working for a public accounting firm in San Francisco, focusing on tax compliance and advisory services.

After 7 years in accounting, I changed course. I was eager for an adventure and wanted to find more fulfillment from my work. After traveling the world for a year I landed in Tokyo, Japan teaching English to men and women who wanted to expand their global opportunities. As my clientele grew, I found myself requiring spreadsheets, invoice tracking, budgets, and financial statements. I loved it.

I soon realized I could combine my passions by helping people achieve their goals through bookkeeping, and thus, Emily's Bookkeeping was born. My practice now supports a variety of small businesses and individuals around the country with their basic financial needs so they can focus on what they really care about – whether that's passionately running a business or budgeting for that round the world trip (or 2 week vacation).
